Default Vic-Maui 2016

Yes, I know that it is still a little while away but I was curious if anyone was having preliminary thoughts about entering the next race. I believe that it will be the 50th anniversary? I was thinking that there might be a slight increase in the number of boats possibly entering due to the anniversary?

Assuming no navigation fails of epic proportions this year Westerly has it in her long term plans.

Spectacular adventure .......... tougher than I was able to really understand before you do the race ..... in hindsight, totally worth the investment to make it happen !

Isn't the 2018 race the 50 year celebration? Busy year as I think that will also be the 50th Southern Straits.

Someone told me that 2016 was the 50th so I could vary well be wrong. Maybe they were just trying to do a sails job on me. (pun intended) We are working on getting both boat and crew ready to race in 2016.

Default Great weather, great sailing continues - 2016 Vic-Maui on the horizon!

Southern Straits, Swiftsure and the VI 360 all delivered great distance racing this year. And we are enjoying great summer weather with wind!

Thinking about more distant horizons ... in this morning’s news, the latest 2016 Vic-Maui confirmed early-entry is a new-to-the-region Reichel/Pugh 55, Crossfire (ex Rima 2). The twelve boats that have filed early entries so far are listed at http://www.vicmaui.org/teams. You can see the initial profile for Crossfire at http://www.vicmaui.org/teams?itemid=101. The owner previously campaigned an Andrews 53, Artemis. Crossfire, a modern high performance design being sailed by an offshore experienced crew, should help set a blistering pace at the fast end of the fleet. We are looking forward to more big, fast boats entering the Half Century edition of Vic-Maui.

Vic-Maui represents the best of our region, our boats, our sailors, and it is our ocean race. We hope to see you join us for the 2016 Vic-Maui.
